For renewals, you do not need to wait until your are near the end of the subscription period, or at the expiry date to renew your subscription. The new subscription length will be added to current expiry date, so any remaining days you have over the current subscription will be carried over.

Merchants would have to register for a free account before you could log-in and upgrade your account to the paid version.
